Faculty Artist’s Series

The Choir Invites You

President’s Message – August 2023
Dear Brockville Community Choir Members and Interested Singers
We are excited to begin rehearsals with our Artistic Director Dianne Baird and Collaborating Artist Madelyn Mensen.
The regular Fall Session will start a bit later than usual this year to accommodate a special concert – the Faculty Artist’s Series in the Community on Sunday, September 24th at the Isabel Centre for the Performing Arts, Kingston. In conjunction with three other performing groups, the choir is performing Sogno de Volare and The Little Jazz Mass. Members who performed in either or both of the 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring concerts will be rehearsing for this concert starting September 6th. Watch your email for further information.
Session rehearsals and the Fall concert will take place at St. Lawrence Anglican Church, 80 Pine Street, Brockville. While our rehearsals and concerts are subject to public health guidelines, at this time, all COVID related restrictions are suspended. For members of the choir and audience masking is optional and there are no restrictions on social distancing or vaccination status. However, singers ought not to attend rehearsals if they have any respiratory or influenza symptoms. Prospective members may attend three rehearsals prior to formally joining the choir.
Registration for FAS in the Community Concert is Wednesday September 6th, 2023 at 6:30pm followed by the first rehearsal at 7:00pm. Rehearsals will take place in the church proper each Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Both dress rehearsal and concert date are the afternoon of Sunday, September 24th. The concert program will consist of The Little Jazz Mass and a brand-new arrangement for Baroque tuning of Sogno de Volare.
Regular Fall session registration for other returning and prospective members is Wednesday September 27 and October 4th at 6:30pm followed by the rehearsal at 7:00pm. Rehearsals will take place in the church proper each Wednesday from 7 to 9pm. The concert date is, tentatively, the afternoon of Sunday, December 10th . The concert program will consist of Mozart’s Coronation Mass and a variety of seasonal selections.
Membership dues will remain: Individuals at $100 per session; Couples – $175; Students – free.
In closing, I hope that this information assists you as you consider returning to or joining the Brockville Community Choir and we look forward to welcoming you.
Take care,
Barry O’Brien
